I visited the Green Lake Park, where I saw many locals enjoying their evening exercises, such as Tai Chi and jogging. The park was filled with lush greenery and beautiful flowers, which made for a serene and peaceful atmosphere.
Day 2: Kunming to Dali
Today, I took a train from Kunming to Dali, a city located on the banks of Erhai Lake. The scenery along the way was breathtaking, with mountains and rivers surrounding the train tracks. Upon arrival in Dali, I checked into a guesthouse near the old town and spent the afternoon exploring the cobblestone streets and traditional architecture. I also visited the Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple, which were built in the 9th century and stand as a symbol of Buddhist culture in the region.
Day 3: Dali to Lijiang
This morning, I rented a bicycle and cycled around Erhai Lake, taking in the stunning views of the lake and the surrounding mountains. After lunch, I took a bus to Lijiang, a city known for its well-preserved ancient town and rich cultural heritage. Upon arrival in Lijiang, I checked into a charming guesthouse in the old town and spent the evening exploring the narrow streets and vibrant markets.
Day 4: Lijiang
Today, I visited the famous Lijiang Old Town, which is surrounded by mountains and has a beautiful water system flowing through it. I strolled along the cobblestone streets, admiring the traditional architecture and the unique bridges that connect the various parts of the old town. I also visited the Square Street Market, where I had the opportunity to try various local delicacies and shop for souvenirs. In the evening, I watched the performance of the Lijiang Impression Show, which showcased the region's culture and history through music, dance, and visual effects.
Day 5: Lijiang to Shangri-La
This morning, I took a bus to Shangri-La, a city located at an altitude of over 3,000 meters above sea level. The scenery along the way was simply stunning, with snow-capped mountains and pristine lakes. Upon arrival in Shangri-La, I checked into a cozy hotel and spent the afternoon exploring the city. I visited the famous Songzanlin Monastery, which is the largest Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Yunnan Province. The monks at the monastery were kind and welcoming, and I had the opportunity to learn about their daily rituals and practices.
Day 6: Shangri-La
Today, I took a tour to the Tiger Leaping Gorge, one of the deepest gorges in the world. The scenery was breathtaking, with steep cliffs and roaring rivers. I hiked along the trails, taking in the stunning views and the fresh mountain air. In the evening, I returned to Shangri-La and had the opportunity to try the local cuisine, including yak meat and tsampa, a traditional Tibetan dish made from roasted barley flour.
Day 7: Departure from Shangri-La
Today, I bid farewell to Shangri-La and took a flight back to Kunming. My journey through Yunnan Province was an incredible experience, and I was sad to leave this beautiful region. However, I took with me unforgettable memories, a wealth of knowledge about the local culture, and a deeper appreciation for the natural beauty of China.
