Last summer, I had the incredible opportunity to travel to Lijiang, China. As an English speaker who had never been to this part of the world, I was excited to experience a new culture and explore a city that is known for its beauty and history. Here is my story of my trip to Lijiang.
I arrived in Lijiang by plane and was immediately struck by the stunning natural scenery. The city is nestled in the mountains and surrounded by beautiful rivers and lakes. The air was fresh and the views were breathtaking.
My first stop was the Old Town of Lijiang, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The architecture and culture of the town were a mix of Chinese and Tibetan influences, and it was easy to see why it was considered a cultural gem. I spent several hours exploring the narrow streets and alleys, browsing the shops and trying local cuisine.
One of the highlights of my trip to Lijiang was visiting the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The mountain is over 5,000 meters tall and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding area. I hiked to the top of the mountain and was rewarded with stunning views of the snow-capped peaks and the beautiful valleys below.
Another must-see attraction in Lijiang is the Li River. I took a boat ride down the river and was able to see the beautiful scenery and local villages along the way. The river is known for its crystal-clear water and the surrounding area is covered in lush forests and green fields.
During my trip to Lijiang, I also had the opportunity to learn about the local culture and history. I visited the Lijiang Museum and the Lijiang Folk Culture Village, where I learned about the region's rich history and cultural heritage. I also attended a traditional Chinese opera performance and tried my hand at calligraphy.
One of the most unique experiences I had in Lijiang was staying in a traditional Chinese inn. The inn was built in the style of a traditional Chinese house and was decorated with beautiful furniture and artwork. It was a great way to immerse myself in the local culture and get a sense of what it was like to live in Lijiang centuries ago.
Overall, my trip to Lijiang was an incredible experience. The natural beauty, rich culture, and friendly people made it a trip that I will never forget. If you are considering a trip to China, I would highly recommend adding Lijiang to your itinerary. It is a city that will leave you with a sense of wonder and amazement.
