Introduction:Yunnan, located in the southwest of China, is a province known for its diverse cultures, stunning landscapes, and unique natural beauty. Our group of three spent 12 incredible days exploring the best that Yunnan has to offer, and we want to share our experiences and insights with you. This English travel guide will cover everything you need to know to plan your own trip to Yunnan, including transportation, accommodations, attractions, and more.
Day 1: Arrival in KunmingWe began our journey in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan province. Upon arrival at the airport, we took a taxi to our hotel, where we freshened up and explored the city. Our first stop was Green Lake Park, a beautiful park in the heart of Kunming with lotus flowers and serene scenery. We then visited the Bird and Flower Market, where we saw a variety of local birds and flowers for sale. In the evening, we had dinner at a local restaurant and enjoyed the famous Yunnan cuisine.
Day 2: Kunming to DaliOn day two, we took a morning flight from Kunming to Dali. Upon arrival, we checked into our hotel and explored the ancient city of Dali. We visited the Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and admired the stunning architecture. In the evening, we walked along the Erhai Lake shore and enjoyed the beautiful sunset.
Day 3: Dali to LijiangOn day three, we took a bus from Dali to Lijiang, a city known for its rich cultural heritage and beautiful scenery. Upon arrival, we checked into our hotel and explored the Old Town of Lijiang, which is surrounded by mountains and has a unique water system. We also visited the Black Dragon Pool Park, where we saw the famous Yuquan Temple and admired the stunning views of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain.
Day 4: LijiangOn day four, we visited the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, one of the most famous attractions in Lijiang. We took a cable car to the top of the mountain and enjoyed breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes. In the evening, we watched the famous Lijiang Ancient Town Music and Dance Show, which showcased the region's rich cultural heritage.
Day 5: Lijiang to Shangri-LaOn day five, we took a bus from Lijiang to Shangri-La, a city located at an altitude of over 3,000 meters. Upon arrival, we checked into our hotel and explored the city. We visited the famous Songzanlin Monastery, a Tibetan Buddhist monastery that is the largest of its kind in Yunnan. We also walked around the picturesque Pudacuo National Park, where we saw beautiful lakes and diverse wildlife.
Day 6: Shangri-LaOn day six, we visited the impressive Napa Lake, a high-altitude lake surrounded by snow-capped mountains. We took a boat ride on the lake and enjoyed the stunning scenery. In the evening, we returned to Shangri-La and had dinner at a local restaurant, where we tried some of the traditional Tibetan dishes.
Day 7: Shangri-La to虎跳峡On day seven, we took a bus from Shangri-La to the Tiger Leaping Gorge, one of the deepest gorges in the world. We spent the day exploring the gorge and hiking along the beautiful trails. In the evening, we returned to our hotel in Shangri-La.
Day 8: Shangri-La to KunmingOn day eight, we took an early morning flight from Shangri-La back to Kunming. Upon arrival, we checked into our hotel and spent the day exploring the city. We visited the Yunnan Provincial Museum, where we learned about the history and culture of the region. In the evening, we had dinner at a local restaurant and tried some more of the delicious Yunnan cuisine.
Day 9: Kunming to XishuangbannaOn day nine, we took a flight from Kunming to Xishuangbanna, a city located in the south of Yunnan province. Upon arrival, we checked into our hotel and explored the city. We visited the Dai Autonomous Prefecture, where we learned about the local Dai culture and tried some of the traditional dishes.
Day 10: XishuangbannaOn day ten, we visited the famous热带植物园 (Tropical Botanical Garden), where we saw a variety of rare and exotic plants. In the evening, we watched the Xishuangbanna Night Show, which showcased the region
